BadgeCulture_SchemeDear Elsa and Mercè A.

We have just had the first session of what you might call knowledge transfer in rapid prototyping. I did not have any idea about how to approach the session to make it useful. I suggest that next sessions should be more specific, when you both have developed further ih the role of prototypator and are able to make more relevants questions.

I have been working on the prototype of badgeculture for 3 months and have  realized that being a prototypator is truly a new profession. A new profession that requires knowledge of other areas which are also new and being created right now, … we must learn about rapid prototyping methods, user acquisition, app testing, video editing, crowdfunding campaigns, investment funds … In processing all this knowledge I realize that the important thing is do not focus on what we do not know, because if I do that I would feel overwhelmed and have a mental block. I better focus on doing something that I could begin and end in just one day. If necessary I seek information or ask someone else to help, but I’m happy with whatever information I could collect in one day. Tomorrow I will probably do other little actions which I have yet to learn. And I don’t worry about the final results and I go ahead providing that there are no costs and we don’t do anything illegal.

I do not much worry when actions  don’t work out. As a prototypator I establish my own hypothesis: e.g. @badgeculture is mainly for women, and then I try different actions to validate my hypothesis. The results of these small tests lead me to formulate new hypotheses.

I feel identified with my app and want to make it real and love it when people use it. I try to surrender myself to the prototype and I believe it will go on asking me what it needs in order to grow. I garden and cater my prototype every day and feel that one day it will depart and have its own life.

See you soon

Mercè M.
